Why did I go left instead of right?
I never even saw the flashing lights
Always there, sleepyhead
Twisted knot of hungry dread
A metal grate to filter through
And the poison I’ve been giving you
Feeding you
My words should have been delicate,
but instead they left you shattered
I escaped to dreams that scraped at their seams, and found quiet in the clatter
I got lost on streets I knew
I would have found my way home if I had listened to you
A thousand strides or more to keep myself away
Wasted weekends with wallowing weary days
But there were also scenes familiar
Family filled with warmth of embers
What I held was not the truth
I’m gonna find my way home, oh lights carry me through
